Food, Glorious Food!

...by an open fire. Ooh, and what's with the strategically-placed scroll?

Wherever you are in the world, what is it that you associate with winter? Eh?

Well, for me it’s traditional hearty meals, in a cosy pub with an open fire. Not to sound soppy or anything, but this really does the trick in cushioning the blow of thinking about swanning around sunny Sydney, drinking rum and dry (not out of the can), with my friends until my nose bleeds.

But when it all comes tumbling down to reality, here we are…and in all honesty, I bloody love it. So what do I do…?  Drink red wine until my nose bleeds, literally!

The Carpenter’s arms in Hammersmith, is one of the best meals I’ve had in yonks! It seems to attract the later diners who are serious about their food. Great atmosphere, low lighting, open fires and a ‘thrash-metal’ band, playing in the corner….just kidding!

It's soup!

It's soup!

Now if you really are finding it hard to stick to that “Oprah Aitkins Diet”, then just sit in front of your computer for about ten minutes, and stare at “Dis’ Y’here soup”….

Now you tell me that the grumbling in your stomach isn’t saying it wants to be fed. As opposed to it wanting to be emptied via the oesophogus at around 47 mph! Wow! I could be the next diet guru.

Well as unappetising as it does look, it was actually really bloody good. Not bad for a first attempt at making soup, innit!? If anyone wants the recipe, then just contact me and I’ll tell you how I made it (or rather, tell you what I didn’t put in it, it’s a shorter list). Also, the potatoes do work better when you take off those little sprouting things, and rinsing off that fizzy, fermenting potato juice…

I can here the syncronised “Bluurgh!” sounds as we speak…
